Admissions Criteria by Grade

Jr. High

7th and 8th Grade
  • Transcripts, along with teacher recommendation forms provided by admissions, are required from each applicant’s current school.
  • All students are required to be fully vaccinated as per the Tennessee Department of Health Immunization Guidelines, and a signed Tennessee Immunization form signed (in two places) by a pediatrician must be submitted to the school.
  • Applicants for our Jr. High are required to take the MAP assessment test. However, we will accept ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) scores for consideration. Please click here to register for the ISEE.
  • Once each applicant's paperwork has been received from the applicant’s current school, and the MAP assessment test has been completed, they are ready for admission consideration. Applicants are notified of acceptance mid-February. Applicants after February will be notified individually.

Upper School

9th - 12th Grade

9th Grade Admission

  • Students who have applied before Christmas break will be in the first round of considerations for admissions. Students applying after Christmas break will be considered as space permits. Students from Parochial schools will take the Pre-ACT 8/9 at their elementary school – make sure your child gives permission to St. Agnes to receive the scores for scholarship potential. Students from Independent and Public schools will need to take the ISEE test, click here to register (High ISEE scores are eligible for scholarships, too.)
  • The St. Agnes Admissions Director will host a placement testing session for students who:
    • Had a sick day which prevented them from taking the Pre-ACT 8/9 or ISEE at their school.
    • Attend a school that does not administer the Pre-ACT 8/9 or ISEE.
  • The Admissions Department will gather needed information from the student’s present school (transcripts/standardized test scores/teacher forms).
  • All students are required to be fully vaccinated as per the Tennessee Department of Health Immunization Guidelines, and a signed Tennessee Immunization form signed (in two places) by a pediatrician must be submitted to the school.
  • Students who submitted applications by Christmas break will receive notification of acceptance in mid-February. All applications after December 16 are reviewed and acceptances are announced as space permits.
  • Freshman course placement is determined by grades from 7th and 8th grade, as well as standardized testing scores, scores of the Pre-ACT 8/9/ISEE, and Junior High teacher input. Upper School department heads determine honors parameters for freshman English, Math and Science based on Junior High grades, Pre-ACT 8/9/ISEE scores, and results from tracking parameters of successful honors students from previous years.

  • The first orientation for incoming 9th graders is Star Tuesday held March 31.

10th and 11th Grade Admission

  • Schedule the ISEE Placement Test here.
  • The Admissions Department will gather needed information from the student’s present school (transcripts/standardized test scores/teacher forms).
  • All students are required to be fully vaccinated as per the Tennessee Department of Health Immunization Guidelines, and a signed Tennessee Immunization form signed (in two places) by a pediatrician must be submitted to the school.

12th Grade Admission

  • If you are seeking Senior placement, please call the Director of Admission at 901-435-5858.

Early Childhood

PK2 - JrK
  • On-campus Playdate Assessments are required for all students applying for enrollment in our Early Childhood program. The Admissions Department will contact you to schedule the Playdate for early December. Additionally, completed paperwork is required for any child currently enrolled in a preschool/daycare program. The Admissions Department will provide that paperwork to your child’s current school.
  • All students are required to be fully vaccinated as per the Tennessee Department of Health Immunization Guidelines, and a signed Tennessee Immunization form signed (in two places) by a pediatrician must be submitted to the school. 
  • All applications received by mid-November are considered first-round applicants. Applications received after December 1 will be handled on an individual basis as space permits. Please contact admissions@saa-sds.org for more information.
  • Applicants will be notified of acceptance mid-February. Applicants after February will be notified individually.

Lower School

Kindergarten - 6th Grade

Kindergarten - 5th Grade Admission

  • Each applicant will take part in an individual on-campus assessment.
  • Transcripts, along with teacher recommendation forms, are required from each applicant’s current school. The Admissions Department will provide the recommendation forms. Please contact Admissions at admissions@saa-sds.org for more information. 
  • All students are required to be fully vaccinated as per the Tennessee Department of Health Immunization Guidelines, and a signed Tennessee Immunization form signed (in two places) by a pediatrician must be submitted to the school.
  • Each applicant will be considered for admission once the on-campus assessment has been completed and all paperwork has been received. Applicants are notified of acceptance mid-February. Applicants after February will be notified individually.

6th Grade Admission

  • Transcripts along with teacher recommendation forms provided by admissions are required from each applicant’s current school.
  • All students are required to be fully vaccinated as per the Tennessee Department of Health Immunization Guidelines, and a signed Tennessee Immunization form signed (in two places) by a pediatrician must be submitted to the school.
