Congratulations to outstanding St. Agnes Academy senior athlete Avery Jones who will be taking her talents to the collegiate level next year. On March 24 she signed a National Letter of Intent during a ceremony held on campus in front of family, coaches, and teammates.
Avery will compete for Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri, as a member of the Lady Wildcats lacrosse team. A three-year member of the SAA lacrosse team, Avery has been a major contributor to their growing success.
In the 2024 lacrosse season (15 games) Avery boasted impressive statistics-17 goals, 3 assists
10 draw controls, and 20 caused turnovers. So far in the 2025 Season (thru 5 games), Avery has already contributed 11 goals, 2 assists, and 6 caused turnovers. Avery also competes as a member of the Memphis LAX club lacrosse team.
Displaying boundless energy and athleticism, Avery is also a 3-year member of the SAA varsity soccer team and state-champion bowling team. She has been named a scholar-athlete for three years.
In addition to her athletic endeavors, Avery participates in other extracurricular activities on campus including Pep Club, Forever Friends Club and Ducks Unlimited Varsity Chapter, and she has served as Field Day Coordinator for her class for three years. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Beta Club, National Latin Honor Society, and National Arts Honor Society.
Athletic Director Matt Nelson shared this about Avery: “She has excelled in so many areas at Saint Agnes, both academic and athletic. It’s amazing to see a three-sport athlete accomplish what she has been able to do. What I have most enjoyed is seeing her embrace a passion for the sport of lacrosse. Culver-Stockton is getting a great addition to their program, and we can’t wait to follow her progress at the next level. In many ways, she has been a model for what athletic success can look like at Saint Agnes.”
Congratulations, Avery!
