Spring has sprung in the SAA Athletic Department! We have amazing coaches to guide and mentor our students both on and off the field, and we would love for you to get to know the staff leading our Stars in competition this spring!

Track and Field: Head Varsity Coach, Jay Mathis, has been coaching for 26 years. He became a coach because he grew up as a coach’s son and has always enjoyed working with kids. Coach Jay enjoys coaching at St. Agnes because of the relationships he develops with the athletes and the joy he gets from helping them to become the best versions of themselves! He graduated from CBHS, and then went to Memphis State University where he ran Track and Field. One fun fact about Coach Jay is that you will always see him wearing the color pink, a wardrobe choice inspired by a former student athlete.

Lacrosse: Head Varsity Coach, Andrew Forsdick, has been coaching for 20+ years. He made the decision to start coaching to spend more time with his children and to help them and their classmates to learn more about various sports-and he learned that he loved coaching! Coach Forsdick enjoys coaching at SAA because he loves getting to know the players and helping them grow their sports skills, and learn a few life lessons as well. He wrestled at CBHS and played rec basketball while in high school. Coach Forsdick attended Spring Hill College where he played rugby and soccer on school teams while also enjoying all kinds of intramurals-basketball, flag football, and softball. One fun fact about coach Forsdick is that he became a basketball referee a few years ago and officiates grade school, high school, youth rec leagues, and adult leagues. He is a proud graduate of St. Dominic School from the class of 1985, and all his children attended SAA-SDS!

Tennis: Head Varsity Coach, Louis Remondet, has been coaching tennis for 32 years. Coach Louis first got into coaching after he was turned down by the United States Tennis Association for their Junior Professional Program. He turned what felt like a setback into a lifelong career of coaching, helping other players reach their dreams. He enjoys coaching at SAA because it is a Catholic school, and he can lean on his own Catholic faith while coaching. Coach Louis went to high school at East St. John High School in Reserve, Louisiana where he played football and tennis. He then attended Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas where he played tennis, and later Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. He believes that anyone who is willing to work hard can and will accomplish anything! One fun fact about Coach Louis is that he is a huge hockey fan: “Go Pens!”

Softball: Head Varsity Coach, Keanah Tipton, has been coaching 14 years and is in her second year of coaching softball at St. Agnes. When asked why she loves coaching at SAA she says, “the community environment, and of course my girls!” Coach Keenah is from Oklahoma and went to Moore High School where she played varsity softball all four years. She went to college at Seminole State (JUCO) and The University of Memphis, receiving a full-ride scholarship to both schools! She enjoys coaching the game that has helped mold her into who she is today. One fun fact about her is that she has never eaten a sandwich, hot dog, or hamburger!

Come out this spring to cheer on the Stars and see these coaches and their teams in action!
