A Peek Behind the Curtain: the 2026-2027 Hook Theatre Season

Another year, another incredible performance season is on deck for St. Agnes-St. Dominic! The Hook Theatre is already buzzing with activity as we prepare for our first round of auditions, and we are excited to watch as our many talented students find their role.  From costuming to set building, from performing to stage managing, everyone plays an important part in bringing our productions to life.

This year’s lineup of Upper School shows is very female driven, representative of the 175 years St. Agnes Academy has played a role in the development of strong women. The first performance kicks off in October with Junie B. Jones: Toothless Wonder. If you have an active imagination and revel in childhood wonder, this play is for you! This is a family-friendly show following Junie B. as she explores the highs and lows of first grade and losing her first tooth. 

The second production, Girls in The Boat, is a drama exploring the true story of the U.S. women’s Olympic rowing team, told from 1950-2016. Despite gender discrimination and many obstacles in their way, these women pull together and paddle their way to history. Mrs. Morris expressed, “This is a story that my students and our audience should want to know about. Mark your calendars for January because this is a story that you’ll want to bring your favorite women with you to see.”

For the big musical in March, our Upper School will drop the disco ball and put on their roller skates as they bring you the magical comedy Xanadu: the Musical. Originally a film starring Michael Beck and Olivia Newton- John, this 80’s classic sends the audience on a mission to find new inspiration in life when the old ways become dull. If a story about a Greek goddess in 80’s fashion sounds like the show for you, then join us for this groovy ride!

The season will close with the Lower School musical, School House Rock Live, Jr. in April. We are excited to welcome our new grades 4-8 Performing Arts teacher Joe Johnson to our theatre family and cannot wait to see him lead our students in this production.
