Travis LeMonte and his wife Amy are the parents of two SAA Stars, Finley (SAA4) and Ellie Rene (SAA2).  This fall Travis is beginning his first term as Chair of the St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School Board of Trustees. Take a minute to get to know Travis and why he thinks the future is bright for SAA-SDS.

How long have you been a part of the Memphis community?

I have lived in Memphis for almost 20 years. I am originally from Houston, Texas. After graduating from Ole Miss, Amy and I were dating and wanted to live in the same city.  We interviewed in several cities and ultimately chose Memphis as it was her hometown, close to where we went to college, and we were both able to find good job opportunities.

Why did you and Amy choose St. Agnes Academy for your daughters?

The strong sense of community.  We were looking for a school that would not only be a great fit for our girls, but also for Amy and me.  After touring several of the East Memphis private schools and attending multiple prospective family events, it became clear that St. Agnes was going to be the best place for our family.

What is your favorite thing about the school?

It’s the amazing faculty and staff of St. Agnes Academy and St. Dominic School.  From the moment you step onto campus and with each interaction, you can feel the love, passion, and commitment that these amazing individuals have for our kids.  They are incredible!!!!

Why did you decide to volunteer at the school?

Our children’s education is one of the most important investments we can make as parents, and volunteering has given me the opportunity to be a part of that by helping support all the great work the faculty and staff are doing.  It has also been a great way to build relationships with people across the school community.

Briefly describe the role of the Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees is made up of a diverse group of volunteers that share a passion and commitment for the success and long-term sustainability of the school.  Our Trustees serve as champions for our school in the community.  They are knowledgeable about the school’s mission and actively support and promote it along with the school’s vision, strategic goals, and policy positions.

Looking ahead, what are you excited about in the school’s future?

The future is brighter than ever at St. Agnes Academy and St. Dominic School as we kicked off the $20 million Go Light the World! Campaign last year, focused on investing in the people, programs and places that make up our school community.   The commitment to growing our endowment and the significant investment we are making in our facilities will help ensure our students remain well positioned for success today and in the future.

What do you see as the biggest opportunities and areas for growth for the school?

I think an area for growth lies right within our own families. I want to encourage our families to continue being champions for St. Agnes and St. Dominic in the community.  As a parent, your voice is a testament to the dedication of our faculty, the strength of our academic program, and the supportive environment that defines our school. By sharing that message we each can contribute to the growth and enrichment of our school community.

What advice would you give to a new parent in our community?

I would encourage new parents to get involved and fully embrace all that St. Agnes Academy & St. Dominic School have to offer parents.   Whether it be volunteering, attending speaker series events, joining your child at All School Mass, cheering on the Stars and Suns on the athletic teams, or dancing the night away at Gala, there are countless opportunities for parents to engage and be a part of our school community.
