After recently participating in the Leadership Scholarship Competition at Christian Brothers University, Melia Bishop was selected as the winner of the event and has earned a full tuition scholarship to CBU.
The Leadership Scholarship Program at CBU is a prestigious scholarship that recognizes outstanding students for their leadership and service in their community. As part of the scholarship competition Melia, along with 50 other students, participated in team-building activities, conversations with current CBU students, and an intense interview process with faculty and admissions staff.
Representatives from CBU surprised Melia at school on March 1 with the announcement-with her family and friends there to celebrate. According to Neel Dixon, Admissions Counselor at CBU, “Melia displayed great character, decision-making, and joy in every arena of the competition.”
At St. Agnes, Melia is involved in a variety of organizations and honor societies including the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, Black Student Union and Forever Friends. She serves SAA as a Freshman Star Guide and as a tutor in the Learning Lab. Melia competes as a member of the Robotics Team and the Track and Field team. She is also active in the community serving as an intern for MPLOY, a Youth Summer Program, and she recently started a sock driver at her local church to provide socks in winter for the homeless.
Melia plans to study Mechanical Engineering in college.
