A Welcome Message from our School Chaplain, Father James Martin Nobles, OP

07 Sep, 2022

What a joy to be gathered again for this ’22-’23 school year! I am grateful to see so many familiar faces and families return to campus and welcome new members into our St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School family.

I am blessed to be starting my second year as a chaplain at SAA-SDS. This community has been so welcoming to me and continues to bring me so much joy during my ministry in Memphis.

Working with our Campus Ministry Department and with support of our school administrators, we now have a designated room for the Office of Campus Ministry in the SAA Upper School. This area not only serves as a “home space” for me when I am on campus, but also provides our students and staff with a place to give thanks for the good things that our Lord has done for us. To foster the spiritual support necessary for our students and staff, our campus minister, Mrs. Beth Odom, and I will now use this space on a weekly basis, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Also, in addition to our monthly “First Friday Eucharistic Adoration” in the beautiful chapel, we are now offering Confession every first Friday of the month. When it comes to this practice, I do make a point to welcome ALL students. For our students who are Catholic, we offer a space and opportunity for regular sacramental confession. For our students who come from other faith traditions, we offer a time for conversation and prayer. We are working on having a designated location for this ministry and found the concession stand, of all places, has the perfect layout. We have ordered a kneeler and curtain to transform the area into a dedicated, reverent space. So, be on the lookout in October for “Confession in the Concession.”

In all, God has blessed me with this opportunity to be a member of such a great campus community and family. Please know that I am praying for you, and I am here as a resource for your family. I look forward to hearing from you! For I am…

Your Brother in Christ,

Fr. James Martin Nobles, OP
