Top Honors for the St. Agnes Academy Class of 2022

St. Agnes Academy is pleased to announce the top honors for the Class of 2022. Congratulations to Valedictorian Claire Hutton, Salutatorian Stephanie Slavick, and Third Honors Corinne Emanuel.

Valedictorian

Valedictorian Claire Hutton has distinguished herself as an outstanding student leader, volunteer, and scholar, particularly in the area of World Languages. Claire, a Commended National Merit Scholar and an AP Scholar with Honors, is a member of the Aquinas Chapter of the National Honor Society, the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, the Rho Kappa Honor Society for Social Sciences, and the National English Honor Society.

Throughout high school, Claire has been awarded multiple medals for her performance on both the Spanish and French National Exams, and in 2020 she earned a perfect score on the National French Exam. She has served in multiple leadership roles for the National Spanish and French Honor Societies, and she has been instrumental in translating the school’s website and other materials into Spanish for Spanish speaking families.

Passionate about languages, Claire has played a pivotal role in the success of the school’s Costa Rican Cultural Exchange program, both planning the itinerary and hosting visiting students. She represented St. Agnes as a student in Costa Rica in 2019 and in Paris in 2021. Claire has volunteered as a peer tutor for students in our World Language Lab.

Outside of the classroom, Claire has been involved in the Beta Club, Government Club, Model UN, Youth in Government, Key Club, and Stars for Life. She has served SAA as a Star Guide, a Peer Mentor, and a tutor in the Math Lab. She was the Minister of Service for her class and was awarded the Lauren Witty Community Service Award and the Saint Catherine of Siena Award for her commitment to service and her dedication to upholding the Dominican Pillars. Claire was recently named to the Miss St. Agnes court by her classmates. She is an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and volunteered as a SEARCH leader.

Claire will attend the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and plans to major in European Languages and History.

 

Salutatorian

Salutatorian Stephanie Slavick is a leader in the classroom and in the community.  She was named a Commended National Merit Scholar and is a member of the Aquinas Chapter of the National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the International Thespian Society. She served in leadership roles for the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.

Throughout her four years at St. Agnes, Stephanie has been involved in HOSA, Beta Club, Key Club, STEM Club, Stars for Life, and Forever Friends. She has volunteered weekly as a tutor in the Math Lab. Stephanie is an active member of our Theatre and Music Departments, participating in numerous productions and performing with Ladies First, the school’s vocal music ensemble.

Stephanie was awarded the Dominican Torch Award at SAA and was named Germantown Youth Excellence Award winner by the City of Germantown. She has served as a St. Agnes Peer Mentor, retreat leader and honor council member.  Stephanie is an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Stephanie will attend the Shackouls Honors College at Mississippi State University where she was awarded a Colvard Future Leader Scholarship, a Freshman Academic Excellence Scholarship, a Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship, a Housing Scholarship, and a Study Abroad Scholarship. She plans to major in Biomedical Engineering.

 

Third Honors

Corinne Emanuel earned Third Honors in the Class of 2022. Corinne was named an AP scholar and is a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society and the Rho Kappa Honor Society for Social Sciences. She has served in leadership roles for the National English Honor Society and the National Junior Classical League Latin Honor Society. She received Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude recognition for her performance on the National Latin Exam.

A participant in both Cross Country and Track & Field, Corinne was named winner of the Marian Swicker Academic Athlete Award for the senior athlete with the highest GPA participating in multiple sports. Corinne has served SAA as a Student Ambassador, retreat leader, Spirit Week coordinator, Key Club president, and FSO coordinator. She is the founder and editor of The Constellation Upper School student newsletter. Additionally, she participates in Forever Friends, Government Club and Beta Club.

Throughout high school Corinne has been very involved in Bridge Builders, most recently serving on the organization’s Leadership Council, COLLABORATE. She was recognized by the Memphis Business Journal as one of the 2021 Girls Who Mean Business. She was recently presented a Service Award for volunteering over 245 hours of service during her four years of high school. Corinne is an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church.

Corinne will enroll in the Jere W. Morehead Honors College at the University of Georgia where she was awarded a University of Georgia Classic Scholarship. She plans to major in Business Administration.
