SAA Pole Vaulter Ranked #1, Breaks State Record

08 Apr, 2026
St. Agnes Academy Junior Claire Wetick is continuing to raise the bar—both literally and figuratively—cementing her status as one of the nation’s premier track and field athletes.
A dominant force in the pole vault, Claire currently ranks #1 in Tennessee and #5 nationally. Earlier this week on April 8, she reached a milestone, clearing 13 feet, 1.25 inches, breaking both the Tennessee state record and the St. Agnes school record.
While the pole vault remains her signature event, Claire is a versatile competitor as well as a leader on the team. She is a crucial anchor for the Stars' standout 4x100-meter relay team and participates in a variety of other events. Her ability to blend individual excellence with a strong dedication to the team truly defines her character as an athlete. Last season, she was instrumental in leading the Stars to their first region championship in years. This season, she is building on that momentum to position the Stars for another successful postseason run.
“We are all very proud of Claire and seeing her hard work pay off,” said Coach Jacob Reeves. “Claire is one of the most dedicated athletes I've ever been around in my years, both coaching and competing. What she accomplished is truly extraordinary. My hope is that her hard work inspires the rest of the team, demonstrating what we are all capable of if we dream and put in the work!”
Come out and support Claire and the Stars as they compete in the Houston Classic at Houston High School this weekend!
