A Remarkable Life of Ministry-Sister Marina Gibbons, OP

We share with our community the news that Sr. Marina Gibbons, O.P., past president of St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School, passed away January 28. Sr. Marina led St. Agnes-St. Dominic from 1978-1994, serving as the first president after the two schools united as one academic entity governed by a single Board of Trustees.
Sr. Marina's insight and creativity brought a new vision for the future of our school. Her many accomplishments while leading SAA-SDS include the renovation and expansion of the library, construction of the Buckman Math and Science Center, development of a new pre-school department, and creation of a computer center.
A Dominican for 79 years, Sr. Marina was a woman of deep faith and a lifelong educator whose ministry took her from classrooms to college campuses and leadership roles, throughout the country and abroad. Sr. Marina’s legacy lives on through the strong academic foundation and forward-looking spirit she helped establish at St. Agnes-St. Dominic.
