St. Agnes Academy Literary Magazine Earns National Honors

The 2019 issue of Calliope, the St. Agnes Academy Upper School literary-art magazine, was awarded a Gold Medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The publication scored 944 points out of a possible 1,000 ponits and was described by the judges as "stunning" and as "a stellar piece of literary and artistic work".
Calliope will will undergo two additional levels of scoring, one for individual literary, artistic, and photographic works which will be announced in October, and the prestigious Crown Award given to the top 25 high school magazines in the U.S, which will be announced in March.
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) is an international student press association, founded in 1925. The Gold Circle Awards honor the best work completed by student reporters, editors, designers, photographers, artists, poets, fiction writers, and other staff members of all types.
Students at St. Agnes Academy began publishing Calliope in 1986. The student- generated magazine combines creative literature, skilled artwork, and defining photography. Calliope is dedicated to preserving and encouraging the arts. The publication is a means of expression for the high school students of St. Agnes Academy, allowing them to reveal their passions and talents and to have their works published and read by a wide audience.
The 2019 Calliope Staff includes: Editor-in-Chief - Ruth Ellen Berry; Artistic Editor – Sarah Grace Price; Artistic Editor – Lucy Brennan; Event Coordinator- Kayla Cochran; Staff members - Emma Stark, Denise Geronimo, Emma Soefker, Eliza White, Fontana Cary, Anna Grace Palmer, Gabi Nunnelee, Kate Sander, Dani Craven, Karis Pepke, Ella Coffey, Abby Fogerty, Olivia Berntson, Olivia Rouse and Talia Shadroui.
