SAA Names New Varsity Soccer Coach

St. Agnes Academy is pleased to announce that Mr. Alek Marchand will join our staff as the next Varsity Soccer Coach for the SAA Stars.
Coach Machand brings extensive experience as both a player and a coach. Originally from Bayamón Puerto Rico, Alek was selected to the Under-20 Puerto Rican National Team as a goalkeeper. Throughout his playing career he also competed for the Puerto Rico Islanders and the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico as well as the Fluminense Athletic Club Guaynabo and Fenix Soccer Club Vega Baja in the Puerto Rico Soccer League.
Alek begin his coaching career in 2008 and has experience at many levels including youth, adult professional, and high school varsity programs. At each level his teams have achieved success and won championships. He is currently the Assistant Coach at Arlington High School where he coaches both the boys and girls varsity programs and serves as the Goalkeeper Coach.
“Coach Marchand understands what it takes to compete at a high level, while also understanding the importance of building relationships within the team,” said Matt Nelson, SAA-SDS Athletic Director. “During the interview process, Coach Marchand spoke to the need to train a team with intentionality and develop players for long term success. We are excited for the future of Stars Soccer!”
