Congratulations to our 85 shining stars who will graduate Saturday, May 19. The Class of 2018 is the 167th class to graduate from St. Agnes Academy!  This talented group of young women earned $9.6 Million in scholarships. They were accepted to colleges coast to coast including the University of Virginia, Notre Dame, Boston College, NYU, Northwestern University, California Polytechnic, Santa Clara University, College of William and Mary, and Washington and Lee University.  The class earned over 340 Scholarships for academics, arts, athletics, leadership and service, and they volunteered 18,500 hours of service to the community throughout high school. They have left a lasting legacy on our campus, and we look forward to watching them shine in college and beyond!

Bishop Martin Holley was our celebrant as the St. Agnes-St. Dominic community gathered for the Feast of St. Catharine. As part of the celebration, students were presented the Dominican Torch Awards and Dr. Kathy Zanone was presented the Albertus Magnus Award, which recognizes an outstanding educator who demonstrates the four pillars of the Dominican tradition: Study, Prayer, Community and Service. Our Littlest Stars and Suns even had a special visit with the Bishop.

Students at St. Agnes Academy-St. Dominic School made wishes come true for one very special little boy when they surprised him during a recent wish granting ceremony.

Over 350 St. Agnes Academy Upper School students continued the Day of Caring tradition as they spent a day offering a helping hand to 27 local nonprofit organizations throughout the city of Memphis. This year marked the School’s 23rd annual Day of Caring. Following a prayer service, students boarded buses and headed to various locations for a day that included preparing food for the homeless, tutoring children, and visiting with the elderly.

St. Agnes artists were honored for their talents in the annual Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards.  St. Agnes Academy Upper School received 26 awards this year including Gold and Silver Keys.

This weekend St. Agnes Academy senior Savannah Stovall was crowned Miss St. Agnes 2018 during the school’s annual dance.  Meghan Fleming was first alternate and Rebecca Winchester was second alternate. Ladies-in-Waiting were Lauren Bean, Kendall Stallings and Annie Wray.  Class Representatives were Liv Shallow SA9, Summer Edwards SA10, Mary Katherine Kruczek SAA11and Kennedy Hall SA12.

Juniors Receive Their Class Rings!

The tradition continues! Members of the St. Agnes Academy Class of 2019 received their class rings last week during a Mass and ceremony at St. Louis Church. Mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts and cousins who are SAA alumnae were on hand to join in the presentation of the rings.

Our school is pleased to welcome Sergio Padial, who joined our St. Dominic 7th grade class after Thanksgiving. Sergio has been attending a bilingual school in Cidra, Puerto Rico. However, his school is currently being used as a shelter for families who lost their homes during hurricane Maria, and Sergio has been unable to attend school since September.  All of our boys have been supportive in helping Sergio transition to life in Junior High at St. Dominic.  Sergio is the nephew of Maria Smith, SAA 9th Grade Counselor.

The St. Agnes Model United Nations delegation participated in the 37th Annual Tennessee YMCA Model United Nations Conference in Murfreesboro. Seventeen St. Agnes students, serving in a wide array of positions, represented SAA with great distinction.  Awards were presented to Bridget Weldon and Rachael Baioni, who won Outstanding Delegate recognition, and our delegation from Italy ( Rachael Baioni, Valerie Williams, Karis Pepke, and Olivia Rouse) won an Outstanding Resolution award.

The St. Agnes Academy varsity golf team won the Division II AA state golf title for the 4th consecutive year. SAA came from behind in inclement weather to dominate over Ensworth and Baylor at the state tournament in Manchester, Tennessee.

SAA-SDS Families from 2K through 8th grade turned out for an evening of fun at the 2017 Family Night. Over 600 people enjoyed the beautiful weather and the delicious dinner catered by Garibaldiís, followed by treats from MemPops. There were lots of activities for the students including a hands-on STEM project area, and DJ Joey Valdez kept everyone entertained. Special thank you to our event co-chairs Amy Wilhite and Jenna Wade.

Our school community joined together in prayer to begin the school year with Mass celebrating the Feast of the Assumption. Mass ended with a blessing for the school year for our students and teachers and staff.
