The hits keep coming for Rachel Heck.
Just two weeks after a successful debut at the U.S. Open, the St. Agnes sophomore was announced Wednesday as the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Girls Athlete of the Year Wednesday in a fan vote, released by USA TODAY High Schools on Wednesday.
At 15, Heck was the youngest competitor at this year's Open and finished at 2-over, tying her for 33rd. Earlier this summer, she won the prestigious Rolex Junior National in North Carolina.
Last fall, she captured the Division II state tournament by 15 strokes, finishing at a tournament-record 10-under.
Last month, the Stanford commit was named girls high school golfer of the year by USA Today. She has committed to play at Stanford.
“Rachel’s game is very impressive. Her focus on the course seems natural,” St. Agnes coach Cynthia Giannini said. “One of her strengths is she has fun while playing. Being calm and collected on the course allows her to concentrate and stay focused on one shot at a time.”
Heck’s closest competitor in the vote was McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.) lacrosse star Maddie Jenner, who finished with nearly 40 percent of the votes. The two combined for more than 85 percent of the 86,000 votes cast.
