St. Agnes Academy Alumna, Kristine Truong, Class of 2016, has been named a CBU Lasallian Fellow by Christian Brothers University.   Each year, five seniors are selected for this high distinction. Students are nominated by CBU faculty and staff because of their commitment to the underserved, their sensitivity to social and community needs, the active nature of their faith, and the difference they make in the world.

Kristine is Biology major with an artistic flare. From her infectious smile to her unwavering commitment to her peers, she has made the most of the last three years — and looks to leave the university better than she found it in May. Through her contributions through the Career Services’ ENVISION program, she made an immediate impression — demonstrating her leadership skills with ease and a true passion for CBU.

From there, Kristine involved herself with the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society, serving as the publicity chair, and became a President’s Ambassador with the Office of Admissions. She also found herself committed to the work of the American Chemical Society and served as chair of the Chemistry Olympiad.

A nod to her desire for all to feel welcome within our inclusive community, Kristine is one of the founding members of the Asian Student Association. Most notably, she has been serving as a member of the Student Government Association in many roles. As a sophomore, she served in the School of Sciences as a senator; in the spring of her junior year, she was named VP of Communications, where she shared the SGA story through social media platforms; and, most recently, Kristine was elected SGA President for the 2019-2020 academic year. In the months since her election, she has worked tirelessly to improve processes and appropriately voice the needs of her her peers.

Beyond these walls, Kristine has taken advantage of many intern and externships — some provided to her through strategic partnerships with the Office of Career Services. She has gained valuable real-life experience with opportunities at Le Bonheur Outpatient Rehabilitation, Gastro One, Trumbull Laboratories, Methodist University Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, Church Health, Main Street Dental, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Undoubtedly, she has been an asset to each of these organizations and a fine representative of CBU to the community.
