Technology on the campus of St. Agnes Academy - St. Dominic School is meant to be seamless and as common as the pencil and paper. We approach the use of technology as a necessary building block in our students’ futures as well as an extremely useful tool that reaches all types of learners.
We have been awarded the Apple Distinguished School Award for the last six years and recognized by many as a leader in educational technology. The campus is full of technology; however, it is intentionally understated. Just as textbooks were once the primary tools of learning, now technology has become the tool of choice for modern teaching and learning. We are always looking for the most effective ways to engage our students in the learning process. It is part of what we do.
The students live in a different world, and we should meet them in that world and work to help them navigate through the technological jungle that exists today. We know that our students will be using technology in some fashion no matter what they do in their adult lives. Bringing their world into the school setting creates enthusiasm for learning, and it has shown that students begin to take personal ownership of their academics.
This is what we do on the campus of St. Agnes Academy - St. Dominic School every day. It is not about the technology; it is about the child. Technology is just an advanced tool to take us where we're going.
